Aiming for Acceptance noticed families with autistic children and loved ones were struggling as funding for life enhancing therapy services were dwindling leaving the local school districts as the only resource for assistance. Collaboration between home and school therapies helps smooth the transition and contributes to more successful outcomes. Input from outside therapy services, when available, means we are better able to set up a learning plan that works for both the child and the parents. There is less guessing about a child's ability to function.
When therapeutic services are taken away or when there are no services at all, children struggle due to the lack of basic readiness skills that early intervention could have provided. Research tells us that the earlier we can provide intervention, the more apt a child is to develop skills that will enable him or her to achieve independence and function successfully.
